Hildale, Washington County, Utah

The twin communities of Hildale, Utah and Colorado City, Arizona are located on the eastern side of Washington County on the Utah/Arizona border. These towns were established by a fundamentalist group that practices polygamy. The town has been raided by the government twice - in 1941 and 1953 but has been left alone by the government and peaceful in recent years. The community employs a conservative dress and lifestyle. Despite a rift and split in the church itself which has divided the community , it seems to be thriving with a population of around 4000.
